7 Rules For Social Media
How to stay sane, productive, and happy online. Feel free to steal these.
I’ve been active on social media since 2004. That’s my entire adult life.
It all started with MySpace, then came Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, and more.
Through the process of gaining over 2 million followers and billions of impressions, I’ve learned a thing or two — not just about how to build an online following, but how to remain sane, positive, and honest throughout.
Today, I’m going to share some of the things I’ve learned because I think they could help you too.
These are my 7 rules for social media:
1/ Don’t lie
2/ Don’t say anything you wouldn’t say IRL
3/ Don’t target individuals
4/ Don’t be harsher than necessary
5/ Don’t publicly fight with friends
6/ Don’t unfollow or block for mere disagreement
7/ Take at least one day off per week
Let’s go through them one by one, and I’ll explain my rationale for each rule.
