From Struggle To Strength: Lessons From a Heavyweight Boxer
How boxing and discipline can change your life.
If you’ve been following my journey, you know that I’ve had the privilege of sitting down with many incredible people. One of the most impactful conversations I had recently was with Ed Latimore, a heavyweight boxer, sober living advocate, and author of the new book, Hard Lessons From The Hurt Business: Boxing And The Art of Life.
Ed and I go way back. He was one of my first guests on the Real Talk with Zuby podcast when it was just getting started. It’s no surprise that he went on to do some incredible things. He’s a man who has walked through fire and come out stronger by constantly challenging himself, learning from his experiences, and being willing to put in the work. All traits that I respect.
Ed’s life has been far from easy. He grew up in the harsh realities of Pittsburgh’s public housing projects. He was raised by a single mother and was surrounded by violence, addiction, and the kind of challenges most people would let define them forever. But instead of letting those circumstances trap him, Ed chose a different path by pursuing self-discipline, boxing, and reinvention.
I know many of you resonate with my own story of perseverance and resilience, but I want to highlight something powerful here, because it’s important to learn from a range of different people. Ed’s story isn’t just about boxing or overcoming addiction, it’s about taking responsibility for your life, no matter where you start. It’s about realising that the only thing you can control is your response to life’s challenges.
Hard Lessons From The Hurt Business is a powerful reminder that you can choose to fight, choose to grow, and choose to win. And that starts with taking full ownership of your life. I believe this book will resonate with anyone looking to take that next step in their own personal journey, so I encourage you to check it out.

Big fan of Ed's. This oughtta be a good one.
The world needs more real talk in all its messiness. Our past helps us to understand our patterns, but they don't have to define us forever. We do have agency, and with support, it becomes a powerful testimony of what's possible
