I’m 67, and I’ve been resistance/strength training since the 8th grade. Believe it or not, I’m still able to grow muscle; not insane amounts but enough to notice. Eggs, red meat, fruit, organic rice are staples in my diet. It’s all so important for bone density, mental clarity, and eliminating sarcopenia (look it up folks!). Great article!

So true. I am one of the few people in my life who strength train and it genuinely makes me sad. Most people don't know how important it is.

1. "I’m of the opinion that anything ethical that gets people out and moving should be encouraged"

2. "Media programming over several decades has created and reinforced stereotypes about strength training and the people who engage in it"

Thanks for sharing these very important points. This is a well balanced post emphasizing the importance of physical activity in general. In your experience how early is too early to start strength training for kids?

You're welcome.

It's a good question. I think kids can start doing bodyweight exercises and very light weights with proper form from pretty young (pre-teen) but check with a physician.

Bodyweight exercises definitely make sense. Maybe light weights with proper form as well. Looking forward to your future posts.

Cheers
