Preferring to read books could actually be about sensory inputs. I’ve tried what you say, Zuby. But gym culture - incl at-home guides - project an energy that overwhelms me.

I do some body weight exercises at home - quiet and slow - but I feel overwhelmed with the dance music, ponytail-flicking vibe of most training programs, incl. Pilates.

If I could do resistance training in the library, that’d be great! 😉

I appreciate what you’re saying about how these activities aren’t mutually exclusive, but suggesting it’s dumb to prefer to read doesn’t fully take on board the barriers for people like me. Xx

I’m 67, and I’ve been resistance/strength training since the 8th grade. Believe it or not, I’m still able to grow muscle; not insane amounts but enough to notice. Eggs, red meat, fruit, organic rice are staples in my diet. It’s all so important for bone density, mental clarity, and eliminating sarcopenia (look it up folks!). Great article!
